Transdisciplinary Insights in Multi and Interdisciplinary Search through Trans-Behavioral Realities
Multi-disciplinary approaches to Psycho-Social phenomena have been the way to go for a long time in order to study the interwoven issues that bring a Social Story to emerge, and that are relevant to different academic fields. In fact there's always a multi-disciplinary thread underlying every Psycho-Social phenomenon, as Humans don't evolve in a bubble, so they always all the time have to deal with a variety of Psycho-Social stories that influence each other. Certainly, Academic Disciplines in the Behavioral Sciences endeavor to study specific phenomena following specialized methodologies with the goal of looking at a set of activities relevant to one field a time, like Economics, Psychology, Sociology etc. However, it's clear that there are so many relationships, and very often a comprehensive approach is necessary in order to investigate a more wholesome story of why certain things happen.
Interdisciplinary research has come to address that need to study interwoven phenomena, as it is not just about reporting the scientific results of different disciplinary approaches to relatively diverse aspects of Psycho-Social phenomena, but also to bring different perspectives on about the same aspects of a phenomenon, or very closely related aspects that lead to specific issues. So this is another level of integration of the disciplines bearing on the Psycho-Social phenomenon. However, Interdisciplinary studies have been challenging since there's no set methods to engage such difficult research, as with variety comes a lack of rigor in the way to bring together such disparate approaches. More often than not, what is exactly interdisciplinary research in a particular study is not defined clearly, and sometimes there's confusion, to the point that there's the notion that interdisciplinary is too loose of a concept to be taken seriously.
Clearly a level of mastery of the different disciplines involved is necessary to arrive at the optimum coordination for the sake of the research at stake. It is in that proficiency that the right perspectives are born and that connections are established with other disciplines for deeper understanding of a phenomenon. Students who are planning to engage into interdisciplinary work should endeavor to go the extra mile in covering the materials of all the disciplines they are interested into, and also pursue applications where leads may be found. However a focus on research interests may help with applications of materials studied in those disciplines. To do interdisciplinary research, passion and hard work are needed, as it is in the toil of commitment to pursue understanding with grit and love that one finds the inspiration for a combination of eclectic approaches to the subject being explored incessantly.
Transdisciplinary research work is at a much higher level of mastery, since intimacy with the materials of these different academic disciplines and the subjects being investigated allows for deeper connections fitting where they belong. Students will find opportunities to learn in the works of masters and professors engaged in such research that lead to transdisciplinary insights. Clearly the choice of subjects is important, and Trans-Behavioral Realities abound in this complex and ever changing world we live in, and the best solutions to vexing problems of our post-modern world are interdisciplinary. But the effective and efficient remedies are definitely through transdisciplinary insights, as they are profound and so well rooted in the many deep connections that move ideas to ideal changes in reality.
